10/5/7 Don't Respond to E-Mail Phishing
Scam
If you receive an email with the subject "Dear Valued stedwards.edu
webmail User" do not respond to this email. This email
is not legitimate. It is a phishing scam by someone who
wants to gather personal information.
Always be suspicious when you receive e-mail that purports to
be from a trusted source, yet the e-mail asks you to send personal
information, such as passwords, through the mail. If you
receive suspicious e-mail, please forward it to the helpline
if you need assistance in determining its validity.

Click on Links in Postcard E-mails
If you are receiving e-mails that purport to contain links to postcards sent
by friends, relatives or colleagues be very careful about opening them or clicking
on any links. Don't click on links included in e-mails with titles such as
" You've received a greeting ecard from a neighbour!"
" You've received a postcard from a family member!"
The actual links in the e-mail are not to the purported postcard
web site but to another site that may attempt to download trojans
or other malicious code on your computer. In most cases the links
in these e-mails will be an IP address ( http://68.266.999.206/?c1617061)
rather than a web address with a domain name (such as www.stedwards.edu).
Anytime a link in an e-mail is an IP address rather than a web
address you should be very wary and not click on the link.
