Web Publishing for Faculty and Staff

Faculty and Staff

Your faculty or staff account gives you the ability to create a personal web site via your personal EdShare account. In addition, any special shares created on EdShare may be used to create a shared web site for a class or committee. This does not include official department pages that are part of the St. Edward's official web site.

Instructions on Publishing a Web Site at St. Edward's

All faculty and staff publishing web pages at St. Edward's University need to complete the following steps to publish a web page:

  1. Create your web pages
Instructions for creating web pages and information on Computer Training Courses dealing with web development may be found on the Web Development site. Faculty may request assistance with developing course materials for the web by contacting Instructional Computing.

When you create your web pages, make sure you name the first or home page index.htm or index.html.
  2. Upload your web pages to the server edshare.stedwards.edu
Save the files in your personal EdShare folder/directory, the one with your login name, inside the folder public_html. If you are on campus, login to your computer and you automatically be logged into EdShare. In your personal EdShare directory will be a folder public_html. You can use drag-and-drop to copy files from your computer to the public_html folder or develop your web pages directly on EdShare.

If students are required to create web sites as part of their course work refer them to the Student Web Publishing Site for instructions. All students publish web sites using the same process as faculty and staff.
