Web Development Consultation
Instructional Computing offers web development and database design services. Our web developers can create easy-to-use custom applications for your site that allow you to track course activity and monitor the progress of your students through the course material.
Some of the advantages of dynamically generating HTML pages from a database are:
- Have the ability to update your data through your web browser with a secure username & password
- Perform text search and retrieve
- Sort information
- Web pages updated automatically whenever the database is updated
- Avoid duplication of data
- Keep track of users who visit the website
- Provide report-style summaries or overviews
Not every project is a good candidate for these technologies though. The major drawbacks of database driven, dynamic web sites are:
- Faculty members can't directly edit the database or the dynamically generated HTML pages.
- Projects take longer to complete due to the complex programming required.
Faculty wishing to learn more about these services or schedule a consultation may contact Jason Rosenblum at 416-5840, or email him at jasonr@admin.stedwards.edu.
