Computer Installation Web Page
FAQ's
How long to expect before receiving a new computer:
New computers USUALLY take about 6 to 8 business days (post electronic approved by your Dean/Cost Center Manager) to arrive on campus from the manufacture. Once they have arrived our technical staff begins to load a customized St. Edward's software "image" and conducts a "burn-in" (test) of the computer to assure that the new system works properly. This process (depending on back-log) takes a couple of days.
THIS IS MERELY AN ESTIMATE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS DICTATED BY CURRENT SITUATION...
INSTOCK items (this does not include new computers) can "usually" be installed within 1 business day.
How to Schedule:
Once the system is formally "received", the end-user will be contact via automated email from "Magic" (our I.T. work order tracking system.) This email will ask to end -users to contact Technical Services to schedule the installation.
Who to Contact: Jason Arellano (x1362 or off campus 448-1362) is our Installation Coordinator. Jason maintains our installation schedule that helps to ensure the smooth implementation of technology on campus.
Preferred Installation Times: Monday through Friday, 9:00AM - 11:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M.
These ranges help to ensure that enough time is allocated to complete the install process.
Do you the "End-User" need to be present during the Installation?
Yes, (in some circumstances special arrangements can be made) passwords will need to be setup, and any new "quirks" can be worked out. We have found that the end-user being present during the installation helps to process go much smoother.
