The Kozmetsky Center of Excellence in Global Finance

Our programs present a broad spectrum of experts who are chosen for their ability to enrich the intellectual life of the university's community, as well as to inform the broader public. Their presence is part of St. Edward’s University's efforts to generate discussion of major national and international public policy issues.

    The Bicentennial Commemorations in Mexico and Latin America
    • 2010 will mark the bicentennial anniversary of independence for numerous Latin American nations. What have current governments and regimes learned from their predecessors? How will Latin America commemorate their independence movements? What was the role played by liberalism during these movements? Considering the role played by Spain during the independence period, what will be the role played by the Spanish Government during the oncoming commemorations? Dr. Roberto Breña will try to answer these questions and discuss the way in which these events are viewed from the United States.
