Health, Counseling & Wellness
As a St. Edward's student, you can access safe, confidential, professional help in coping with the physical and emotional demands of school, relationships and life.
The Health & Counseling Center, located in Lady Bird Johnson Hall, offers services in three areas: Health Services, Counseling Services and Wellness Services.
Health Insurance
The university requires all students to have health insurance coverage in the Austin area. Students registered for six or more credit hours can obtain insurance coverage through the St. Edward's University Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), which is administered by Academic HealthPlans.
Health Services
Services are provided by nurse practitioners, registered nurses (RNs) and a medical assistant and are available to enrolled St. Edward's University students. After-hours phone consultations are also available for urgent medical problems. Services are provided at no cost unless a referral is made to an off-campus provider.
Counseling Services
Counseling is provided by staff psychologists as well as supervised doctoral-level graduate students. Individual, group and couples counseling is available. Counseling sessions can help students maintain a balanced life, manage stress and maintain successful relationships. Counseling services are available 24/7 for students in crisis.
Wellness Services
Wellness Services staff members provide educational programs designed to help students succeed. Programs cover healthy choices, alcohol and other drugs, suicide prevention, stress management, physical health, and personal adjustment and growth.
