Master of Arts in Counseling
The Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) offers a curriculum
which enables graduates to apply for licensure as a
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist (LMFT) or both in the state of
Texas. The MAC program provides excellence in teaching
and learning in an environment that includes the classroom
and a wide variety of field placements within the Austin

St. Edwards University, through their learning experiences, students
are helped to understand themselves, to clarify their
personal values and to provide service to the community.
Career opportunities
The MAC program offers an educational and training experience
which prepares students to work as professional counselors
in a variety of settings, including hospitals, residential treatment centers, non-profit agencies, government,
for-profit organizations and private practice. As graduates
of the program, students may choose to focus on working
with children, adolescents, or adults. Students are
assisted in their search for post-masters degree experience,
where they must do the following for the LPC:
1) complete 3000 hours of supervised field experience
with a temporary license and
2) pass the National LPC examination, in order to
