an abbreviated version of the Sept. seminar, in an expanded and more interactive format. Supervisors who weren't able to attend in September, or those who were, but would like even more information, are encouraged to attend.

Susan Henderson, account manager with Alliance Work Partners, will present Managing the Challenge of Change, providing supervisors and managers with valuable information and the skills they need to successfully manage change and help employees embrace it. [NOTE: A companion seminar for employees, Rolling with the Changes, will be presented in December].

Valarie Kaur, an Islamic college student at the time of the Sept. 11 attack, will present her documentary, Divided We Fall on Monday, Nov. 5. Examining the effect of the attack on Islamic Americans, Kaur, who is American, will ask what happens when a country is divided into "us" and "them." The Kozmetsky Center invites you to the movies to explore the history of Latin America from the Conquest through the present.  Incorporating Oscar winning feature films, as well as documentaries, the Center will explore the impact of the European encounter with the indigenous peoples of the continent in the sixteenth century, as well as contemporary issues such as the disappeared and dealing with authoritarian governments.  Commentary by Dr. Margaret E. She suggests that the heuristic for interpreting and responding to communicative situations does not currently allow analyses of the ways in which physicality (i.e., the physical materiality of space/place) may impact interpretations of and responses to rhetorical situation, especially in the multimodal contexts of new media that represent new conceptual realizations of space/place.
