Rabbi Lawrence H. Schiffman, The Ethel and Irvin A. Edelman Professor of Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University, will present “Truth or Fiction? The DaVinci Code and the Study of Jewish History,” as part of the 2008 Nosta Acetate Lectures. These lectures explore the inter-religious values reflected in the groundbreaking Vatican II (1965) document of the same name, which expressed a commitment to dialogue, understanding and reconciliation among adherents to differing faith traditions. A light reception will follow the lecture. The event is free and open to the public. |

This annual conference is intended to provide a unique opportunity for students to present academic research, visual art and other forms of creative expression as undergraduates, and to generate a common forum for university wide communication among faculty and staff members, students, and the greater Austin community. Concurrent sessions run each hour during the day and consist of oral/paper presentations as well as poster/visual presentations. Three students present their research/papers in every hour-long session, 15 minutes for each participant. Poster/visual sessions are held mid-day. The BIG Event
Alumni Gym
Get involved with the largest annual service project on campus. The BIG Event is a fantastic opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to give back to the neighbors and neighborhoods surrounding St. Edward's University. Join in this campus-wide event to complete service projects at schools, churches, homes, daycares and parks in the community surrounding St. Edward's. We will meet at 9 a.m. in the Alumni Gym to have Taco Deli breakfast tacos, receive a t-shirt, to hear live music and to receive a project assignment. At noon, volunteers will finish working on the service projects and will come back to the Alumni Gym to hear more live music and to have burritos from Chipotle.
