St. Edward's University Special Events Parking Policy

As the university has grown, so have our events. Each year, thousands of people attend events on our campus and every event is an opportunity to communicate important messages and favorable impressions about the university. To avoid excessive use of parking spaces on campus, and to ensure a positive experience for campus visitors, all events with expected participation of at least 25 external attendees must be posted on the online, university-wide calendar. View the complete calendar policy for the university.

Valet Parking Requirement
If your event of 25 or more external attendees occurs during regularly scheduled classes and has 10 or more vehicles coming from off campus, you will be required to provide valet parking.

Golf Cart Supplier
Some valet parkers may require that you rent a golf cart. To arrange for a golf cart, please contact Kenfield Golf Carts at 512-258-8515.

Off-campus Parking Option
In rare instances you may need to utilize parking at the Austin Junior Volleyball complex across from campus. To coordinate use of this space, contact Austin Junior Volleyball Director, Glen Lietzke by e-mail or call 512-479-8776.

Resource Negotiation Procedure
While St. Edward's can often accommodate events occurring simultaneously, there may be instances when events should not occur at the same time due to limited facilities and resources or security issues. In such cases, Laura Rivas, Marketing Special Events Associate, will determine which event takes precedence (determined after a thorough review of event scope and purpose, as well as the date the event request was submitted) and will make a recommendation for how to proceed (e.g., move one event to another day and/or location). If organizers fail to reach a compromise, the events in question will be reviewed by the appropriate vice president(s) for a final decision.

Standing Black-out Dates
Please note that standing, annual university-wide events, such as commencement, orientation, move-in day, etc., are considered black-out dates on the calendar and simultaneously occurring events are discouraged.

If you have questions regarding the parking or calendar policy, please contact Laura Rivas by e-mail or call 512-448-8740.
