Sign Up for the St. Edward's University Miles for a Mission 
The St. Edward’s University Campus Ministry is gearing up for the annual Miles for a Mission 5k fun run and walk. The fun begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, on campus and continues with a post-run party immediately following the event. The cost is $10 for students and $20 for faculty and staff members, alumni and friends of the university.
Miles for a Mission is a non-competitive fun run/walk that supports university outreach programs providing students with opportunities to enrich their education and improve communities, in addition to joining campus life.
The proceeds from the event will benefit Campus Ministry outreach programs including:
- Alternative Spring Break—Students engage in complex social and cultural issues through direct service, group discussion, experiential learning and individual reflection
- International Immersion—Students get a glimpse into the daily lives of people from another country while examining the critical issues of society and exploring our responsibility in the global community
- S.E.R.V.E. Austin—St. Edward’s, Reflect, Volunteer, Engage (S.E.R.V.E.) is a service program that promotes serving the community, understanding local social justice issues and building relationships
- Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week Food Drive—Part of an annual week-long series of events where students can learn to appreciate what hunger really means and how their daily choices impact local, national and global resources
“Miles for a Mission is a way for people to contribute to a good cause and affirm their spirituality,” says Liza Manjarrez, assistant director of Campus Ministry. “Miles for a Mission not only promotes the outreach programs of St. Edward’s, but focuses on the wellness of our community.”
The event is organized by Campus Ministry, a committee of Alternative Spring Break students and 60 other volunteers.
