St. Edward's Named "Up-and-Coming University" by Academic Peers
U.S. News and World Report has once again recognized St. Edward's University as one of America's Best Colleges. In the 2010 rankings, St. Edward's is 21st among master's-granting universities in the Western Region. And in a U.S. News survey, college officials among peer schools named St. Edward's one of the top five "Up-and-Coming Universities" in the Western Region.
This year, St. Edward's advanced in ranking one slot from 22 to 21 in the Western Region rankings. St. Edward's is one of five Texas colleges to be ranked in the top 25. That move is due to improvements in seven out of the 11 categories:
- Peer assessment
- Graduation rate
- Percentage of classes under 20 students
- Percentage of full-time faculty
- SAT scores for incoming freshmen
- Improvement in percentage of freshmen who are in the top 25% of their class
- The university's overall acceptance rate
These improvements indicate that the quality of a St. Edward's education continues to improve and we have made great strides in becoming one of the best small universities in the country.
There are 572 universities in the “Master's granting” category, ranked within four geographic regions—North, South, Midwest, and West.
We are proud of our national ranking and recognition by our peer colleges, which reflects significant improvements that began in 1999 with the introduction of a 10-year strategic plan.
