AUSTIN
- Dr. Albert Baez, noted physicist and father of folk singer, Joan
Baez, will be the featured speaker at St. Edward's Natural Sciences
Speaker Series on campus on Thursday, Nov. 2, at noon in Mabee Ballroom
(A) of the Ragsdale Center and 2 p.m. in room 101 of Fleck Hall.
The
topic of his first lecture at noon is "The Four Cs in Higher
Education: Curiosity, Creativity, Competence and Compassion."
The topic of the second lecture at 2 p.m. is "The Three Dimensional
Nature of In-Line Holography and Some Anecdotes abouts X-Ray Microscopes,
Telescopes and Holograms." Dr. Baez also is president of Vivamos
Mejor/USA.
These
presentations, which are free and open to the public, are sponsored
by American Physical Society and the School of Natural Sciences
at St. Edward's University. St. Edward's University is an independent,
Catholic liberal arts university of 3,800 students in Austin. It
was founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross.
