AUSTIN
- St. Edward's University alumnus Jeremias Alvarez of Presidio (Presidio
High School) was awarded the Cornaro Award from Kappa Gamma Pi.
The Cornaro Award is a $3,000 scholarship for graduate school expenses
at any accredited university. Alvarez received one of only four
Cornaro Scholars awarded in 2001, celebrating Kappa Gamma Pi's 75th
anniversary.
Alvarez
earned his bachelor's degree in Spanish/International Business from
St. Edward's University in May of 2001. He is pursuing his master's
degree in public affairs at the University of Texas Lyndon B. Johnson
School of Public Affairs.
Kappa Gamma Pi is the honor society for graduates of Catholic colleges
and universities.
Founded
by the Congregation of Holy Cross, St Edward's University is an
independent Catholic liberal arts university of 4,100 students located
in Austin, Texas.
