AUSTIN - St. Edward's University student Charissa Grummon,
'03, was selected to participate in the Harvard School
of Public Health's Division of Biological Sciences Undergraduate
Internship for Minority Students.
The
goal of the program is to expose minority college science students
to the rewards of laboratory research directed towards solving important
public health problems such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, infections,
etc. The internship is an intensive 10-week research program under
the direction of a Harvard faculty member. Participating students
receive a stipend of $3,100, a travel allowance and free housing.
Grummon,
who is pursuing her bachelor's degree in biology at St. Edward's,
was one of 16 students across the country accepted into this prestigious
program.
St.
Edward's University is an independent Catholic liberal arts
