AUSTIN - St. Edward's University is pleased to announce the signing
of Lindsey Heye of San Antonio (Churchill
High School) and Lauren Myrick of Austin
(Westwood High School) to letters of intent to attend St. Edward's
University and play softball for the Hilltoppers beginning in the
2002-03 academic year.
Heye,
daughter of James and Catherine Heye, is a four-year starting letterman
and was named First Team Softball All-District, Academic All-District
and San Antonio Express-News Player of the Week. She was a member
of the National Honor Society and Winners Circle. She plans to major
in mathematics. St. Edward's Softball Head Coach Donny Bruce
said, 'Lindsey is tremendously smart. She has a feel for the
game that many young ladies her age really don't have. She
will prove to be a valuable asset for our pitchers.'
Myrick,
daughter of Jerry and Donna Myrick, is a three-year varsity softball
member and was named First Team All-Cen-Tex Softball All-District
and Academic All-District. She has been a volunteer for Coats for
Kids and sings in St. Theresa's church choir. She plans to
major in biology/pre-medicine. Bruce said, 'For the past year
we have watched Lauren grow into one of the best hitters in the
state. She has a very relaxed, authoritative swing. She will do
well in college pitching.'
St.
Edward's University is an independent Catholic liberal arts
university of 4,100 students in Austin. It was founded by the Congregation
of Holy Cross.
