AUSTIN
- A professional clarinetist for 30 years, Ann McCutchan is no stranger
to Austin's music community. She is the former classical music
critic of the Austin American-Statesman and former member of the
Austin Lyric Opera orchestra and various chamber groups in the Central
Texas area from 1983 to 2000. In 1989, she co-founded the Austin
Mostly Music Marathon, an annual fundraising event for AIDS Services
of Austin.
McCutchan is the author of Marcel Moyse: Voice of the Flute, The
Muse That Sings: Composers Speak About the Creative Process, and
a wide range of published work in newspapers, magazines and literary
journals. A visiting associate professor of writing and music at
the University of Wyoming, McCutchan is the recipient of a distinguished
achievement award from the Education Press Association of America.
This event, which is free and open to the public, is part of the
Visiting Writers Series sponsored by The School of Humanities. For
