St. Edwards University and Wells Fargo are investing in high
school students with a knack for business and a flair for technology.
The newly created Wells Fargo Award for Future Leaders in Business
and Technology honors high school juniors who exhibit excellent
academic and leadership credentials and who also show promise in
areas of business or technology. In addition to being recognized
at their schools spring awards ceremonies, Wells Fargo Scholars
will be considered for a four-year scholarship to attend St. Edwards.
During their time at St. Edwards, Wells Fargo Scholars will
participate in exclusive networking and enrichment activities with
Wells Fargo representatives.
Wells Fargo is proud to partner with St. Edwards University
to recognize innovation and excellence by talented American high
school students, said Rick Burciaga, regional president of
Wells Fargo in Austin.
Tracy Manier, director of undergraduate admission at St. Edwards,
added, We are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize
students who, at such a young age, have been motivated and successful
in the areas of business and technology. Because of the generous
support of Wells Fargo, these scholars will be the innovative leaders
of our future economy.
Principals and guidance counselors at more than 1,000 high schools
across the county have been invited to nominate a student who meets
the following selection criteria:
- Be
a junior during the 20022003 academic year

- Rank
in the top 25 percent of his or her class
|
- Be
enrolled in an advanced academic curriculum
|
- Have
a combined minimum PSAT verbal and math score of at least
105
|
- Embody
the St. Edwards University educational mission and
philosophy
|

Additionally,
a successful nominee may possess some of the following attributes:
- Serves
as a leader in at least two clubs or organizations
|
- Participates
in an internship
|
- Founded
a club or organization
|
- Started
his or her own business (e.g.: lawn mowing, computer repair,
etc.)
|
- Assists
faculty and staff with use and repair of campus computers
