St. Edward's University is pleased to present Vessels: Transformed
by Fire, an exhibition featuring work from Central Texas
clay artists Finn Alban and Marian Haigh. The exhibition will be
on display Sept. 12 through Oct. 5 in the gallery of the Fine Arts
Center on campus.
Maintaining
her studio near Fredericksburg, Alban specializes in stoneware and
porcelain is vessels. She fires her work in one of the few wood-burning
kilns in Central Texas. Operating her home studio in west Austin,
Haigh has had her work published nationally. Her porcelain vessels
are hand built, sometimes using fragments of images to suggest a
story.
Exhibition
hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission
is free and open to the public. For more information about the Art
Exhibition Series contact Stan Irvin at 512-448-8685.
