Statement From St. Edward’s Regarding Theater Faculty Resignation

We regret to announce that Melba Martinez, PhD, former artistic director and associate professor at St. Edward’s University, has elected to resign her faculty position effective immediately. Martinez’s faculty appointment as artistic director of MMNT had recently been reassigned; however, she was expected to remain on faculty. While we are sorry that future students will no longer benefit from her theatrical skills and talent, we wish Martinez well in all of her future endeavors.

Assistant Professor Ev Lunning has been appointed as the interim artistic director of MMNT and the university will conduct a nationwide search to fill the vacant position.

Founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross, St. Edward’s University has been named as one of America’s Best Colleges for 2004 by U.S. News & World Report. St. Edward’s is a private Catholic, liberal arts university of approximately 4,450 students located in Austin, Texas.
