Set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, Sophocles’ ANTIGONE defines one girl’s struggle between loyalty to family and loyalty to the state. In a climate of political ignorance, misogyny and rebellious passion, this classic tragedy explores the destructive capabilities of ego and exposes the aftermath of societal decay. David Long makes his directorial debut at the Mary Moody Northen Theatre with ANTIGONE, having joined the St. Edward’s University Theatre faculty this past fall. Mr. Long has taught acting, voice, and movement at Winthrop University in South Carolina and most recently at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. He has presented movement workshops throughout the country and is the Artistic Director and founder of the 20/20 Project. David received his MFA in Acting from the University of Washington's Professional Actor Training Program (PATP) and a BA in Theatre from California State University, Fullerton. He is an active member in Actors' Equity Association (AEA), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), and the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD).

The Mary Moody Northen Theatre at St. Edward’s University offers one of the only pre-professional undergraduate theater programs of its kind in the United States. Designed for the student-artist, the program offers theater-based academic training with a rigorous liberal arts curriculum.

Founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross, St. Edward’s University has been named as one of America’s Best Colleges for 2006 by U.S. News & World Report and was selected by The Princeton Review for inclusion in the guide Colleges with a Conscience.
