| Students who qualify for Combination
Senior status will be able to enroll in up to
12 semester hours of selected courses offered
at the graduate level at St. Edward's University.
They will be able to apply those hours either
toward partial fulfillment of the requirements
of their undergraduate degree OR toward
partial fulfillment of the requirements of a
graduate degree at St. Edward's University.
Courses taken while a Combination Senior
can NOT be used for both undergraduate and graduate
credit.
To be eligible for this option, student must
meet the following criteria:
- They must have an approved New College degree
plan. Note: Contact your New College Advising
Specialist, if necessary, to ensure that you
have met this requirement; an approved degree
plan has been signed by you, your advisor,
and the Dean of New College.
- They must have earned a GPA of at least
3.0 in their previous 60 semester hours.
- Eighteen (18) semester hours must have been
completed in residence at St. Edward's University,
with a GPA of not less than 3.20.
- They must have completed a minimum of 90
semester hours overall.
- They must meet other conditions (such as
specified period of work experience) required
of graduate students enrolled in the same
courses.
Combination seniors will be able to register
for designated graduate courses only on a space-available
basis beginning one month prior to the beginning
of classes. In addition, the number of seats
available to undergraduate students in any graduate
course will be limited.
Please Note: Approval to register for
graduate credit does not imply approval for
admission into a graduate program at St. Edward's
University or that the credit earned will be
accepted toward a graduate degree. To be admitted
to a graduate program, a student must make formal
application to that program and be formally
admitted. A representative of the graduate program
will be able to discuss whether or not graduate
credit earned while in the Combination Senior
status is applicable to that program. Degree
requirements, for example, may change between
the time a course is taken and the time of admission
to a graduate program.
Further information about the Combination Senior
status, including application procedures, is
available in the Center for Academic Progress.
