Student Services


Academic Advising
The Center for Academic Progress (CAP) offers "one stop shopping" for admission and advising to New College and graduate students from the time they inquire about studies at St. Edward's through graduation. Prospective and current students are encouraged to call 512-428-1050.

Adult Learning

The Center for Prior Learning Assessment (CPLA) assists New College students with advising, instruction and coordination of the assessment of student portfolios, a way to individually assess the work experience and prior learning of adult students for possible college credit. Appointments can be made with plac faculty by calling 512-416-5897.

Campus Life
The Ragsdale Center houses all dining services, meeting spaces, lounge areas, a coffeehouse, a game room, an auditorium, a multi-purpose room and offices for student organizations. Additional information may be obtained by calling 512-448-8796. St. Edward's University has four residence halls available to all students. Apartments located on campus are available to upperclass students (sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students). 11/02/2007re available. Call the Student Development Office at 512-448-8419.

Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry serves the religious and spiritual needs of all students, faculty, and staff at St. Edward's. Additional information may be obtained by calling 512-448-8499.

Career Services
Career Planning and Experiential Learning (CPEL) provides career counseling, planning, and development services for SEU students and alumni. Along with one-on-one career counseling, CPEL conducts workshops and seminars on such topics as job search strategies, resume writing, interviewing, and career exploration/transition. CPEL is also the primary resource on campus for information on internships and job opportunities.

Computing Services
The university offers student computing labs in various locations, and offers more than 30 networked PC and Macintosh microcomputers to be used for word-processing, desk-top publishing, programming, accouting spread sheets, statistics, digital imaging, computer graphics, and computer assisted instruction. A variety of Macintosh computers, PCs running Windows, and laser printers are available. All students receive accounts and passwords so they can have 24-hour access to the campus network. Fitness Facilities
The Recreation/Convocation Center (RCC) is a multi-purpose facility housing inter-collegiate athlectic teams, intramural and recreational sports, and students clubs. The 60,000 square foot facility provides two basketball and volleyball courts; a 25-meter heated swimming pool; four handball/racquetball courts; and weight rooms.

Health Services
The Health and Wellness Center provides care Monday-Friday 9 am-6 pm. Except for outside laboratory testing, most services are FREE. The Health and Wellness Center is staffed by a Nurse Practioner and is located in East Hall. For more specific information, call the Health Center at 512-448-8686.

International Student Services
The Office of International Education Services acts as a liason between international students and various departments of the university, agencies of the United States, foreign governments, and private organizations. Assistance to international students regarding educational, financial, social, and personal concerns is also provided. For more information or assistance, call 512-448-8660.

Library Services
The Scarborough-Phillips Library, opened in 1981, was built to accommodate over 300 students in a variety of seating and study areas. The library contains over 146,000 volumes, and provides access to over 1500 current periodical titles. The library offers remote access to an online text and web-based catalog, full text academic and business periodical databases, and dozens of additional specialized academic databases. These electronical resources may be accessed remotely by modern or network connection through the campus-wide network.

Psychological Services
Psychological Services are available to support students in creating a fully balanced life, developing fulfilling relationships, embracing change, and discovering a clearer sense of self. For information on walk-in hours or appointments, please call 512-448-8538 or visit us in the Students Support Center on the ground floor of Moody Hall.

Theater
The Mary Moody Northen Theater and Theater Annex are the teaching and performing centers for the theater program. Each year a full slate of productions is performed in these spaces, including four mainstage and two summer theater productions.

Public Safety
The Public Safety Department is a service-oriented law enforcement agency dedicated to meeting the needs of the campus community. Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week and respond to all calls for on-campus assistance. Additional information may be obtained by calling 512-448-8444.

Veterans' Affairs
St. Edward's University has a contract with the Veterans Administration to provide education benefits to eligible veterans under applicable public laws relating to veterans' training. Eligible veterans are advised to contact the Office of Student Financial Services at 512-448-8527 for information.
