Eligibility
New College students will be notified by e-mail through the New College e-newsletter once a term of the opportunity for pre-admission status in a St. Edward’s University evening graduate program.
To be eligible for this option, students must meet the following criteria:
- Have completed a recent degree audit or senior meeting with their advisor.
- Have completed at least 90 semester hours.
- Have earned a minimum of 18 semester hours at St. Edward’s University, with a GPA of not less than 3.2.
- Meet any other conditions for graduate admission detailed in the current Graduate Bulletin (see "Admission and Academic Information” for the evening graduate program(s) of interest).
Pre-admission Process
- Through the Center for Academic Progress, students will be notified of the Undergraduate/Graduate Transition opportunity.
- Students may apply for pre-admission status by completing and submitting the application form, which requires the names, addresses and telephone numbers of two references, and a current résumé.
- Once placed in pre-admission status, students will be assigned to a graduate advisor, with whom they can discuss graduate programs at St. Edward’s University.
Deadlines
Deadlines for receipt of applications and supporting letters are as follows:
- For students graduating in fall (December), the deadline is Nov. 1 of the term in which they will be graduating.
- For students graduating in spring (May), the deadline is March 1 of the term in which they will be graduating.
- For students graduating in summer (August), the deadline is July 1 of the term in which they will be graduating.
Acceptance into Graduate Programs
A student who meets the standards for conditional graduate admission will be automatically admitted to his or her respective graduate program upon successful completion of all requirements for the undergraduate degree and after fulfilling the requirements for conditional admission to that program. Should a student wish unconditional admission, he or she must follow all the steps outlined in the Graduate Bulletin. For further information, contact the Center for Academic Progress.
