Sue is a native Coloradoan who now calls Austin home. Calling herself a "late bloomer," she finished a Ph.D. at Colorado State University in 1994. An avid life-long learner, she continues to take classes regularly. She has a long history of teaching at all levels including junior high. Her disciplines are English, communication, organizational theory, and adult education/human resource development. She also coordinates the New College PACE Organizational Communication major and is an Associate Dean in New College.

She has a number of research interests that focus primarily on intercultural communication, women’s leadership, the scholarship of teaching, and the role of self-efficacy and locus of control in leadership.

At the national level, she is actively involved with the Adult Higher Education Alliance and the Teaching Society for Management Educators.
