Rich Parsells was born in the northeast, spent 20 years of his adult life in Ohio, and has been in Austin since 1997. After completing his Master’s in Public Administration at the University of Dayton, he began his career in health care administration, which spanned a period of 27 years. During that time he held a number of management and leadership positions in the public and nonprofit sectors, while serving on numerous health and human service boards and coalitions. While working he completed his Master’s in Business Administration, and served as an adjunct instructor at two institutions of adult learning over the course of 17 years, Antioch University in Yellow Springs, Ohio and St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. His doctorate is in Adult, Professional, and Community Education. Rich teaches courses in public administration, public policy, nonprofit budgeting, business, Introduction to Critical Thinking and Research, and the New College Capstone course, Moral Issues in Society. His research interests focus in the areas of adult learning, self-directed learning, change management, and learning organizations. He is a member of the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE), Council on Adult Experiential Learning (CAEL), and the American society for Public Administration (ASPA).
