At St. Edward’s, she is a faculty advisor for Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society for adult students. She teaches a wide range of courses in European, world, women’s, Mexican, and Mexican American histories, as well as "Critical Thinking and Research" and "Moral Issues in Society." She was chosen the New College Teacher of the Year in 1998. In 2000, she was a recipient of the New College Vision and Excellence Award.
Dr. Sánchez has written a variety of articles and book reviews. She is a contributing author of Beyond the Latino World War II Hero: The Social and Political Legacy of a Generation, published by UT Press in December, 2009. A detailed list of recent work is available here.
