St. Edward's University presents: LEND ME A TENOR
This wild romp of mistaken identity, slamming doors and non-stop double entendre combine for an evening of side-splitting hilarity. It is 1934 and the Cleveland Grand Opera Company anxiously awaits the arrival of the world-famous Italian tenor, Signor Tito Merelli, known to legions of fans as Il Stupendo. This benefit performance of "Othello" is the most important fundraiser of the season, so of course Merelli arrives too late to rehearse, has a huge fight with his wife and is mistaken for dead (the result of an accidental double dose of tranquilizers). What is this opera company to do with a sold-out crowd and the clock ticking toward show time? Like all good farce, through a series of desperate measures and compromising positions, everything falls apart and miraculously comes back together in the end.
The cast features equity guests artists John Neisler and Jenny Larson, plus a cast of talented St. Edward's University theater students, including Brooke Parker, '03, and Jose Marenco, '01. Productions of "Lend Me a Tenor" can be enjoyed June 21-July 15 at St. Edward's University's Mary Moody Northern Theatre located at 3001 S. Congress Ave. Show times are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10. Call 448-8484 for reservations.
