CANDAX-Me McNair Scholars from St. Edward's University to present research at national conference

Five CANDAX-ME McNair Scholars from St. Edward's University will present their research at the McNair National Research Conference and Graduate School Fair in Wisconsin, Nov. 2-4.

Saul Alanis, '02, of Weslaco (Weslaco High School); Pedro Garza, '02, and Anita Ramos, '03, of Eagle Pass (Eagle Pass High School); Leodoro Perales, '02, of McAllen (Rowe High School); and Judith Patricia Razo, '02, of Ben Bott (Ben Bott High School) will present findings from their eight-week summer research internship at the University of Notre Dame.

The purpose of the CANDAX-ME McNair Scholars Program, named after U.S. Challenger astronaut the late Dr. Ronald McNair, is to encourage and assist first-generation, low-income or underrepresented minority college students continue their studies into graduate school, particularly academic programs leading to a doctoral degree.

Founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross, St Edward's University is an independent Catholic liberal arts university of 4,100 students located in Austin, Texas.
