St Edward's University Professor Publishes New Textbook
Joseph E. Pluta, PhD, is the lead author of a new book entitled "The Elusive Quest for Efficiency in an Inefficient World," released by CAT Publishing Co. of Redding, California. Professor of Economics in the School of Management and Business at St. Edward's University, Pluta co-authored the book with James Willis of San Jose State University. The book is an intermediate level microeconomics text with numerous contemporary business applications and industry case studies.
This textbook also combines humor and instruction for a nontraditional educational experience, incorporating interactive exercises, detailed problem sets, and outside consulting experiences that students can apply to real-life situations.
Pluta has published a dozen 12 other books as well as more than 40 articles and critical reviews in professional economics, business and history journals. He earned a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Notre Dame and a PhD from the University of Texas.
Founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross, St. Edward's University has been named as one of America's Best Colleges for 2005 by U.S. News & World Report and was selected by The Princeton Review for inclusion in the guide "Colleges with a Conscience." St. Edward's is a private, Catholic, liberal arts university of approximately 4,650 students located in Austin, Texas.
