College Guide for Working Adults

What do a cop, a "slacker," the first female Mexican-American Travis County Commissioner, a Nigerian immigrant and a full-time wife, mother and technology trainer all have in common? Well, today they all are St. Edward's University alumni thanks to an innovative adult educational program called New College. While there is no shortage of stereotypical college students — aged 18-22 who enroll immediately after high school — the majority of today's college students are over 25 years old and are balancing their classes with family and work commitments.

While this may be surprising to you, it's nothing new at St. Edward's, which has been a leader in adult education for more than 30 years. In 1974, St. Edward's created New College to cater to the needs of adult students — the first such educational program in Texas and among the first in the nation. Today New College is Austin's premier educational experience for working adults — more than 3,100 alumni working in just about every imaginable field can't be wrong!

Over the years, we've perfected catering to adult students, and now we've put our experiences into a convenient and easy-to-read "how to" guide. The College Guide for Working Adults will walk you through everything you need to know — from taking the first step of attending an information session to taking the plunge and applying. The guide can even help you get started on choosing a major and sorting out your financial aid options.

We understand that you're busy. And with just one visit to the College Guide for Working Adults, you'll see that St. Edward's University offers an educational program that fits your life: convenient locations, dedicated support staff and a wide range of undergraduate majors. And since you're probably already chained to a desk all day, we offer classes in a variety of formats — from small seminars to interactive online courses and even a blend of the two. Contact us today and be on your way to achieving your college dream tomorrow.
