St. Edward's University Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
St. Edward's University will celebrate Mexico's Independence Day during its annual Diez y Seis de Septiembre festivities. For the sixth consecutive year, the St. Edward's Ballet Folklorico and Mariachi Alas de Oro will bring the sights and sounds of Mexico to campus.
The Diez y Seis de Septiembre celebration kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. This year's theme is "La Cultura es Vida" or "Culture is Life." The St. Edward's community is invited to join in the following activities: Hispanic Culture Photo Gallery, Spanish Mass, "The Forgotten Americans" Documentary and Panel Discussion, and more.
St. Edward's commitment to maintaining a diverse campus community was recognized by Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education, which named the university a "Top 100" institution for "recruiting, retaining, educating and graduating" Hispanic students in 2005.
