St. Edward's University is celebrating an all-time high -- $70.3 million, the largest amount the university has ever raised. A Special Destiny: The Campaign for St. Edward's University exceeded fundraising goals by $5 million and far surpassed initial expectations. The university is grateful for the friendships and generosity of all the supporters who made the campaign a major success.

Thanks to the support of more than 9,500 donors who made contributions to A Special Destiny, the campaign far exceeded expectations by meeting and topping several goals, including:

• Raising almost $30 million in commitments to the endowment, a major factor in increasing the endowment 84 percent since 1999. The endowment has nearly doubled in the last five years to more than $60 million.
• Increasing the number of President's Associates -- donors who give $1,000 or more annually -- to an all-time high of 360.

The university has also raised more money than ever for scholarships. A total of $21.3 million was raised for scholarships, and 80 scholarships were newly created or received additional funding. The broad range of scholarship funding includes: social sciences, education, natural sciences, humanities, business, study abroad programs and fellowships for graduate students.

• For endowed scholarships, more than $10 million was received for newly created scholarships and more than $920,000 was added to previously created scholarships. Deferred gifts directed to endowed scholarships totaled more than $3 million.
• Existing annual scholarships received more than $655,000 while more than $755,000 was received for newly created scholarships.
