St. Edward's University presents Infinite Spaces

St. Edward's University presents Infinite Spaces, a landmark performance event highlighting multiple artistic disciplines — orchestral music, modern dance, visual art and poetry. The St. Edward's University orchestra will showcase the Texas premiere of Eternal Songs by Polish composer Mieczysław Karłowicz.

Infinite Spaces will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 25, in the Mabee Ballroom in the Robert and Pearle Ragsdale Center on the St. Edward's University campus.

WHERE: Mabee Ballroom, Robert and Pearle Ragsdale Center, St. Edward's University, 3001 S. Congress Ave.

COST: $10 general admission; $5 students, seniors, and St. Edward's University faculty and staff members

Infinite Spaces is a new concept in artistic synergy, featuring:

  • Musical performances by the St. Edward's University Orchestra, directed by Adjunct Instructor Annette Jurcevic
  • Dance performance by the St. Edward's University Choreography Class 2008, taught by Adjunct Instructor Ann Mary Carney
  • Photography, installation, and video and audio projections by St. Edward's University photocommunications students and Adjunct Instructor Peter Tucker
  • Poetry readings by St. Edward's University poetry students and Associate Professor Alan J. Altimont

This is the first year St. Edward's University has a full orchestra. Instrumentalists include St. Edward's University undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff members, and musicians from the Austin community.

The St. Edward's University Orchestra will give Pierre Jalbert's 2001 composition Les espaces infinis, the title work, its Austin premiere. They will also play In the Steppes of Central Asiaby Alexander Borodin.
