The St. Edward's University softball and men's golf teams both finished third in the NCAA Division II National Tournament held at Memorial Park in Houston. The 7-th ranked St. Edward's Men's golf team came back on the final day to take the third place spot. The softball team finished in third place after their loss to Emporia State.

Men's Golf: Hilltoppers Make Miraculous Comeback, Finish Third in Sudden-Death Playoff

The 7th-ranked St. Edward's men's golf team made up a 12-shot deficit on the final day of the NCAA National Tournament to finish in a three-way tie with West Florida and North Alabama. The Hilltoppers then lost in the sudden-death playoff to both teams to end the tournament in third place.

The Hilltoppers end their season with arguably the best results to date. St. Edward's won five tournaments this year which included their second-straight Heartland Conference Championship and first-ever South Central Regional Championship. St. Edward's also finished in third place in their only other NCAA National Tournament appearance in 2005.

St. Edward's Ends a Record-Breaking Season at the NCAA Division II National Tournament

St. Edward's University freshman Stacy Giles homered to left field in the seventh inning to tie the game, 1-1, with Emporia State and force extra innings in the semifinal game Saturday, May 17 at the NCAA Division II World Series in Houston. The Hilltoppers fell, 2-1, to the Hornets after 13 innings of play to end their season with a school-record 53 wins.
St. Edward's senior Kristen Lozano and freshmen Stacy Giles and Lexi Stephens were named to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship All-Tournament Team Saturday, May 17 by the NCAA Committee.

This was the first South Central Regional Championship and Division II National Tournament appearance for St. Edward's softball since joining the NcCAA.
