St. Edward's University Recipient of Several Grants and Donations
Mathematical Biology Program- The Educational Advancement Foundation of Austin awarded St. Edward’s University $50, 000 to support curriculum development, student research and inquiry-based learning utilizing the new field of Mathematical Biology.
Leadership Coalition-The Association of American Colleges and Universities awarded St. Edward's University $10, 000 to support its involvement in a Leadership Coalition comprised of 45 colleges and universities. The schools selected will serve as models of what a liberal education can offer and will seek to create campus cultures that enhance the academic, well-being and civic development of their students. The coalition is part of the Bringing Theory to Practice Project that supports campus-based initiatives that demonstrate engaged learning by actively engaging students both within and beyond the classroom.
C-CERT – The Junior Auxiliary League of Austin awarded St. Edward's University $7,482 to provide training resources for the Campus-Community Emergency Response Team. The monies will purchase 75 first responder kits as well as train C-CERT volunteers in areas such disaster preparedness, fire safety, CPR/First Aid and school violence.
Wild Basin-Wild Basin-St. Edward's Collegiate Academy of Science, a student chapter of the Texas Academy of Science, will donate $2000 to Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve to provide educational equipment/supplies for their new learning classroom at the Basin. St. Edward's University became affiliated with the Basin in April of 2008 to create an interdisciplinary natural resource laboratory providing hands-on learning and research for the academic schools of Natural Science, Behavioral and Social Science, Management and Business, Education, and Humanities.
