St. Edward's University Faculty Member Completes Scholars Program
The Biology Scholars Program was established in 2007 by the ASM and the National Science Foundation. Baynham and her fellow scholars are the first to complete the program since its inception. BPS participants are selected through a highly competitive process that evaluates teaching excellence and national leadership. Baynham was one of 20 people selected for this program.
The BPS provides a community of practice, consultation, resources, and tools to faculty to improve their understanding of evidence-based research and to further their understanding of learning assessment design and implementation. Additionally, these scholars are expected to extensively evaluate their current teaching style, while researching ways to improve student learning within a classroom setting. Furthermore, scholars become the leaders of the national undergraduate biology education reform.
