St. Edward's University Celebrates Fall Graduation Ceremonies
Victoria Gutierrez, ’00 MLA ’04, who graduated with a BA in Communication and a Master of Liberal Arts, will deliver the keynote address for the New College and Graduate ceremony. Victoria is director of development at Southwest Key Programs, a national nonprofit organization headquartered in Austin. It provides care for unaccompanied immigrant children and juvenile justice system-involved youth. Victoria is also a professional auctioneer and works to conduct one nonprofit auction for every three for profit auctions.
Ellie Ghaznavi-Salamat, ’89, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and owns Alliance International based in Los Angeles. Alliance International markets and distributes seismic sensors in high-risk earthquake zones, which shut down gas and power systems during earthquakes. Ghaznavi-Salamat originally came to St. Edward’s University as an international student from Iran. She helped form the International Students Group while enrolled at St. Edward’s and served as its president. In December 2007, Ellie and her husband, Sina, established The Ghaznavi-Salamat Family Scholarship to provide recognition and financial assistance to one or two outstanding undergraduate students enrolled in the School of Natural Sciences.
