St. Edward's University Breaks Ground on Munday Library
St. Edward’s University celebrated the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Munday Library on Thursday, Nov. 1. The ceremony took place near the construction site of the new library, where members of the St. Edward’s community gathered to dedicate the building and thank Bill and Pat Munday for their support of St. Edward's University.
Pongracz Sennyey, St. Edward's University's library director, welcomed guests and university president Dr. George Martin delivered his thoughts on the space and the Munday's contributions to the university. Bryan Irwin of the Sasaki architecture firm described how the library would inspire those who use it with its stunning design and seamless transformation into the beautiful, and natural, campus environment. Father Peter Walsh, presided over the blessing of the library, which is scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2013.
The Munday Library will feature global digital classrooms that will be used for video conferencing, revamped reading, study, and meeting spaces, an expanded digital collection, and will also house the writing and media centers currently located in different locations across campus.
