St. Edward's University Reaches Social Media Milestone

St. Edward’s University recently passed 10,000 “Likes” on its Facebook page, and celebrated the milestone by awarding one of our most engaged fans a $50 gift card to the Alamo Drafthouse. Leading up to the milestone, we challenged our Facebook fans to like, share, comment and offer feedback on our posts. Ignacio Lopez, a class of 2016 theater major, was one of our most engaged followers and the recipient of the social media contest prize.

“I follow St. Edward's on Facebook to get regular updates to see what's up at my school,” said Lopez. It's refreshing to see past students and what they're accomplishing. Plus, I have to show school spirit somehow.”

Like many individuals, organizations, and businesses, St. Edward’s University utilizes various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, YouTube, LinkedIn and the St. Edward’s University mobile app. The university uses social media to communicate with students, faculty, staff and prospective students. Via each platform we share messaging about university events, student and faculty accomplishments, campus construction updates and other important news.

Lopez added, “I am an active member of social media; I use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr. I use them to keep up with friends from high school, because we don't see each other on a day to day basis anymore.”

Social media is also a great avenue to engage in a dialogue with the campus community, alumni, parents and prospective students. If you are interested in following us on one of our various social media platforms, you find them from the links above or on our main website Look for the social media links at the bottom right corner of the page.

Leave us a message, comment on one of our posts such as the profiles our amazing professors or images of the beautiful and diverse campus. More importantly, follow, retweet and share messaging that you believe other friends or fans of St. Edward’s would want to know.
