Hilltopper Softball upsets the University of Texas, 6-1
AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward's softball team pulled off one of the biggest upsets in school history as they took down NCAA Division I Texas, 6-1, Thursday evening at Red & Charline McCombs Field.
"What an amazing way to start our fall season," head coach Lindsay Gardner said. ""Our pitchers did an amazing job keeping UT batters off balanced, defensively, I couldn't have asked for more, and on the offensive side of things, we did a great job of making small adjustments, putting the ball in play, and finding ways to score. I couldn't be happier for the girls!"
Hilltopper starting pitcher KATELYN KLUG had it rolling early as she sent kept Texas scoreless for the first part of the game. The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when St. Edward's pushed across all six of its runs. St. Edward's had two hits, and took advantage of three Texas errors and two walks for the outburst.
