Online Housing Lottery & Fair

The online housing sign-up is just around the corner, and this year, you’ll have more choices than ever when it comes to finding your home on campus. Check out the FAQs below and get a head start on choosing where you want to live.

How do I sign up for on-campus housing?

First, you’ll need to participate in the online housing sign-up lottery. Simply log into EdWeb anytime during the lottery, which begins at 8 a.m. Feb. 16 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Feb. 19. You’ll receive a random time slot based on when you enrolled at St. Edward’s to register for housing. It doesn’t matter when you participate in the lottery — just make sure you log in sometime during those three days. Once you have your assigned time, you’ll be able to return to the site during the Spring 2009 online housing sign-up, which takes place Feb. 23–26.

How is my registration slot time decided?

Your sign-up time is based on the semester you first entered St. Edward’s University. For example, if you entered the university Summer 2008, your randomly selected time will be on Feb. 23 or 24. Please note that your entrance date may be different than your class (freshman, sophomore, etc.) status.

Why do some students get to register before me?

St. Edward’s is committed to providing the best housing possible for its students. In order to accomplish this, we have to determine who has priority for the available spaces. Although the university has decided to give that priority to freshmen and sophomores, a certain number of single rooms, apartments, Casa, and Casitas are set aside for upperclassmen.

To help students adjust to college life, we require freshmen to live on campus their first year and encourage sophomores to stay on campus their second year. Not only does this give students additional support their first two years of college, but it also helps establish a strong community that lasts throughout their college experience.

What are my on-campus housing options?

You can choose from a variety of living options, including:

  • Dujarié: Coed residence with double rooms with single baths and suite-style rooms with four students sharing a bathroom
  • East: All-female residence with semi-private rooms and community-style bath and restroom facilities
  • Hunt and Le Mans: Coed residences with double-room suites and four-person shared bathrooms
  • Moreau: Coed residence with single rooms (upperclassmen only) with single baths, double rooms with single baths and suite-style
  • Rooms with four students sharing a bathroom
  • Teresa: Coed residence with double-occupancy rooms and suite-style bathrooms
  • Upperclassmen who choose to continue living on campus can choose from additional options, such as:
  • Casa: House-style living with single and double rooms (up to nine students share three semi-private bathrooms)
  • Casitas: Townhouse-style living with five students living in single rooms and sharing three bathrooms
  • Lady Bird Johnson Hall: Coed residence with private suites with two-person shared bathrooms
  • University Apartments: Coed residence with efficiency, 2-bedroom and 4-bedroom plans

Is on-campus housing available for juniors and seniors?

Housing for juniors and seniors is determined and offered each year based on availability. For 2009–2010 it looks like we’ll be able to accommodate upperclassmen who want to live on campus.

Can I live in the new residential village?

Yes! We want you to be among the first to call this great new space home. You can sign up to move into the new residential village for Fall 2009. Johnson Hall, with loft-like single rooms complete with unique architectural elements, is designed especially for upperclassmen.

What is the new residence village like?

Urban living has arrived at the east side of the hilltop with the opening of the new residential village. Each hall has a variety of suites with designer touches, all in a contemporary environment. All students — residents and nonresidents alike — will enjoy a second dining hall with late-night food options, computer labs and wireless zones, and a combined Health and Counseling Center. Retail and residence space are located together in the same area creating a “downtown living” experience in the heart of campus.

When will I be able to see the new residential village?

You can take a tour and celebrate the university’s new residential village grand opening on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 4:30 p.m. If you can’t make it to the grand opening, stop by the front desk in Le Mans Hall on Feb. 18 or 19, from 3 to 7 p.m., to check out a room.

What if I can’t get on-campus housing?

The Residence Life staff will work with you to help you decide if an alternative on-campus living option will meet your needs. The staff will offer helpful information if you want to make other arrangements. We will provide information sessions in March covering topics such as where to look, how to sign a lease, additional costs and more. Watch for announcements in Student E-News and around campus.
