History of Dujarié Hall

Jacques Dujarié Hall opened in August of 2005. The hall was named after Father Dujarié, who was secretly ordained as a priest in 1795 during the French Revolution. Fr. Dujarié founded two religious orders, the Sisters of Providence and the Brothers of St. Joseph. The order of brothers later merged into the Congregation of Holy Cross under the direction of Father Basil Moreau.

HI! My name is Ashley Shopbell and I am the Resident Director for Dujarie Hall. This will be my fourth year at St. Edward's and am looking forward to a great year.

I graduated from Texas State University-San Marcos with a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Communication Studies. I had a blast in college and I want to try to give that experience back to other students. Here are a few facts about me; I love watching basketball, especially the San Antonio Spurs! I’m a big fan of SEU sports, I love attending games to support my residents. I also like watching movies, hanging out with friends, listening to live music and discovering Austin. I also enjoy spending time in the hall.  I love hanging out with residents and getting to know everyone on a personal level.

I'm looking forward to another amazing year at St. Ed's. Here's to good times and great memories!

RAs:

Hey everyone, my name is Maggie Bradford and I will be the R.A on the East 3rd floor. This is my second year as a R.A and I am really excited! I am a junior majoring in Criminology with a minor in Sociology. I absolutely love my major and the fact that I get to take really cool classes. When I am not studying or participating in other school-related activities, I love to hang out in Austin. This city is filled with wonderful restaurants and good music. I also like watching movies and/or random television shows, playing board games, spending time with my family and friends, and reading.  I love meeting new people because it is a wonderful chance to learn something new about myself, the world, and of course that person. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and having another great year at St. Edward’s!

My name is Cory Hahn and I will be entering the 2008-2009 school year as a sophomore.  I am majoring in entrepreneurship and actively taking science courses with the ambition of attending medical school or dental school.  In my spare time I enjoy playing golf, hiking at high-altitude, and spending time with friends and family.  This year I would like to do well in my classes, expand my vocabulary, and make the year as exciting and memorable for residents as possible.

My name is Eric Helmreich.  I am a senior, a bioinformatics major, and I will also be your Dujarie Casita RA for the 2008 / 2009 school year.  Some of you may already know me from last year when I was an RA in Dujarie but for those of you who don’t know me, let me get you up to speed.  I like sports in general, but baseball and football are my favorites.  I like video games, shooters and RPG's.  When I am not in my room, I am in class, or more likely, playing ping pong or shooting pool.  I am looking forward to meeting and seeing everyone again, and, as those who know me will tell you, feel free to come to me at any time for anything and I will do my best to get you the results you are looking for.

Hey everyone! My name is Lauren Stilz. I am originally from Georgetown, Texas. I am currently an RA on the third floor, west side in Dujarié. I came into the RA position in October 2008 and I am so excited to be here! I am a communication major with a minor in Spanish. The first time I visited the campus I immediately fell in love! Someday I hope to live in Mexico and make some kind of impact in the lives of people there.

Hey! My name is Austin Dains and I am the fourth floor RA in Jacques Dujarié Hall. This is my second year at St. Edward’s and my first year as an RA. I am originally from Houston, but I immediately fell in love with the beautiful St. Edward’s campus and the city of Austin when I moved here. My major is Political Science and I hope to one day go to law school or somewhere as equally fun and challenging. I love getting to know new people and making friends, so introduce yourself! I am also a sophomore senator in student government, on the Big Event committee, and have enjoyed rowing for St. Edward’s. While I love going out to explore the city, I am always there to answer a question or help with a problem. You can find me just hanging out and chatting, watching movies or listening to music (or all three at once!) This year, I hope to help make Dujarié Hall a great place to live!

Hola! My name is Laura Sandoval and I live on the third floor west side of Dujarie in room 339! I am a sophomore at St. Edward's University and I absolutely love it here. I lived in Dujarie last year on the first floor and loved it so much I decided to come back as a Resident Assistant.  I am a psychology and Spanish double major.  Also, since I'm taking a photography class every semester until I graduate I'm probably going to receive a minor in Photocommunications as well. I plan to attend grad school and receive a Masters degree as well as my Doctorate of Psychology degree. I dream of working with adolescents and children in the future. I believe that psychology is my calling, the Spanish language is my passion, and that photography keeps me sane. Essentially I love school and I love to learn new things.  It overwhelms me when I think of all the classes that are offered but I won't have the time to take before I graduate.

I love to travel and I plan to learn Italian fluently by the time I turn 25.  I plan to study abroad in Spain the summer of 2009 as well as in Argentina in 2010.  I am from the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas so you can probably guess that I am 100% Hispanic.  Faith is a big part of my life however, I do love different cultures and consider myself to be very open minded. I currently live by this quote..."Life is like the surf, so give yourself away like the sea!"

Hi! My name is Leela Simmons and I am the RA for the 2nd floor east of Dujarié. I am a Psychology major but I plan on getting my teaching certificate (and hopefully a master's) in Education to become an elementary school teacher. I absolutely love working with children and plan to teach abroad for a semester in Peru after I graduate in May. College has seriously flown by!

I have lived here in Dujarié for all four of the years I have been at St. Ed's and have come to know the building, and the community that comes with it, as home. This will be my second year as an RA and I am really excited for what the year has in store. I absolutely love the relationships I built with my residents last year and can't wait to get to know this batch as well as I did the first!!
