Title: Faris Rugstore Database Application
Abstract: Faris Rugstore is a regional Retailer
and Distributor of Persian Rugs in the Middle East. Previously,
customer information, transactions, inventory, and other submissions
were performed manually and stored on electronic spreadsheets.
The data is housed in many different locations, and retrieval
of such data has become a cumbersome task. The Faris Rugstore
Office Assistant makes use of the scripting language ASP (Active
Server Pages) front-end GUI based Database Management System that
manages customer inventory, order, supplier, and user data. All
of the information is housed in a MySQL database under Windows
Operating System. An employee can access a detailed view of each
item in inventory, its supplier, producer, quantity on hand, item
price and view and/or edit the description. Methods for adding,
deleting, searching, and updating records can be performed on
all database entries. Also, the administrator can set and manage
authentication privileges. Testing throughout the developmental
process took place; three people tested the product prior to delivery.
Then, another test run was performed with the client and employees
prior to launch. After meeting all the client’s requirements,
Faris Rugstore is currently populating the database and is happy
with the results of the product. |
