Title: Cryptography Investigated. Are We Secure?
Abstract: With the advent of
wireless technologies, such as web-enabled phones, wireless handheld
computers and laptops, as well as billions of dollars being transferred
over the Internet, transaction security as provided by current
cryptography standards is a source of concern. The Blowfish algorithm
was implemented to test the degree of security provided by current
encryption standards. Files of different sizes and types were
encrypted using the algorithm, and brute force techniques were
used to decrypt the file without knowledge of the file key. Government
restrictions appear to be the main source of the problems with
security rather than problems with the technology.
