Title: Course Web Page Maker
Abstract: Web pages have grown
as a major means of communication for university professors. Professors,
particularly those in non-technical areas with little or no knowledge
of programming languages or HTML, are interested in creating personalized
web pages instead of using complex systems such as Blackboard.
The Course Web Page Maker was designed for Windows/Unix users
to provide an easier way to produce web pages for homework, lecture,
syllabus, calendar, and office hours/schedule handouts. Professors
enter in their course information into a text files and execute
Perl programs to create a linked set of HTML web pages, which
the client then uploads to his/her web site. Each program was
tested and the expected functions performed as specified. Along
with creating web pages, the Course Web Page Maker aids professors
by allowing them to minimize time spent adding, editing, and deleting
course handouts and it provides organization for courses. The
Course Web Page Maker will be in use at the beginning of the Fall
2004 semester.
