School of Natural Sciences
Academy of Science

If you are new to this organization, here's a little bit of information about what being a member of AOS means:

As science majors, we are awfully busy throughout each semester, so we try to plan meetings every so often so that our members are not constantly strapped with appointments. The plant sale held in the Moody Hall atrium is our fundraiser during each semester. AOS members help to prepare and sell plants from our own JBWN greenhouse. Many of the things that students do together as AOS members allow them to meet other science majors who are taking the same classes and have much in common with one another.

Other interesting events AOS sponsors are the Natural Science Seminars. They are interesting lectures that professors and students give describing their research. Refreshments are provided, and it is a great way to meet other science students and learn a little bit about the research side of the Natural Sciences!

One key event held each year is the AOS meeting where students present their undergraduate research to peers and faculty. Presenters have a chance to win awards based on their presentation and research. Each year, many AOS members travel accross the state to support those that are presenting. This is a good chance to bond with both other students as well as faculty. This trip is always a blast, and besides that, it is a great opportunity to get an idea of what it will be like to present your own research one day.
