SEARCH FOR JOBS

While it is often difficult to find time to spend in training new employees, it is important. The Student Employment Training Program is a self-paced training program for all students who participate in the student employment program at St. Edward's University. The program is administered under the direction of the students' supervisor.

MATH & READING TUTORING PROGRAM

The Math and Reading Tutoring Program, formerly called America Reads/Counts, are based on the philosophy that children are our nation's greatest asset. It calls students to support teachers and help ensure that every child can read well and perform basic mathematical functions by the end of the third grade. Math tutors (America Counts) can also work with children through the ninth grade. Eligible and dedicated college students are called to serve as tutors, mentors, and role models. Students must be considered Work-Study eligible to participate in this tutoring program.

For more information, contact the School of Education at 512-448-8651 or visit them on the web at http://www.stedwards.edu/educ/index.html. For additional information regarding student eligibility for the Work-Study program, contact the Office of Student Employment at 512-448-8527.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Internships provide excellent opportunities for students to learn new skills, expand their knowledge of a particular field of study, explore career options, and apply academic knowledge in a "real-life" situation. In today's job market, students need practical experience to be competitive. Internships offer invaluable career preparation.

Internships can be paid by the employer, be part of the student Employment Partnerships Program, be part of Community Service, or can be voluntary. The following internships are available through the Career Planning & Experiential Learning Office (CPEL) at the beginning of each semester and may be taken for academic credit towards your degree plan:

• HEB Community Internship Program
• Kauffman Entrepreneur Internship Program
• Motorola Internship Program

More internship positions can be found at http://www.stedwards.edu/cpel/index.html or contact the Career Planning & Experiential Learning Office at 512-448-8530 for more information.
