organizations are commissioned by the University
for particular purposes and maintained within
the Office of Student Life. Chartered Organizations
are given a budget, assigned a Student Life staff
advisor, and also complete the Chartered Organizations
Recognition Packet annually to continue their
charter. |

These organizations are directly
supervised by a specific University department.
They receive similar benefits as the Recognized
Organizations, however their budgets are maintained
by their respective department. Special Affiliated
Organizations complete the Special Affiliation
Packet annually.

We have over 65 recognized
organizations that represent the following categories:
- academic and professional
- community service
- honor societies
- cultural
- special interest
These organizations
complete the Recognition Packet annually and
receive benefits from the Office of Student
Life such as meeting and activity space, participation
in University events, a University account,
and use of available facilities, supplies, equipment,
and services.

The Student Organizations
Union convenes representatives from all St.
Edward's University student organizations to
provide a forum for networking, support, and
leadership development. Additionally, the SOU
provides students with a voice for recommendations
for Student Life program enhancement.
