Leadership — it's a big topic with lots of categories and definitions. There's community leadership, corporate leadership, political leadership, student leadership… And there are also models, theories and research on it, not to mention the habits that exceptional leaders share.

But why should you care? Because you're a follower.

And because you're a leader, too.

Why is leadership important at St. Edward's?
St. Edward's takes its mission statement seriously. It's more than a few paragraphs we post around campus and on the Internet. Leadership at St. Edward's means lifelong learning. It means being open to new perspectives, working toward social justice and practicing what you learn in the classroom. It means taking risks and not being afraid to fail.

It's a skill that will get you far in the working world. Employers are looking for strong leaders — people who know who they are and how they work best with others, people who know how to make decisions as well as delegate.
